dirtbike?

I'm shopping for one, going the 2-stroke route. Im pretty ignorant to diftbikes so what should i be looking for that would make a bike decent or not. Wear and tear is one thing but are there signs that i should definately stay away from ? Is a 125 too small for my 190 lb. beginner ass? Answer me u dirty bastids.

2 stroke for sure.
Kev, i would say go 250.. The engine has longer maintenance windows and it will hit less violent then a 125. You won't get bored of it either. Of course I would say get a ktm but if not any of the other jap brands will do just fine. If you go with a YZ or a CR parts are plentiful.
Try to get one that is at least a 2002 or so.

oh some things to check..
bearings.. (these all take a beating)
-check front & rear wheel
-swing arm
-rear linkage (if not a ktm)
-steering stem

Fork seals..

Obviously check the compression.. a 2 stroke in good condition should only take a couple of good kicks to start.

Stay with the bigger companies.. unique = hard to find expensive parts.

I say go the 4-stroke route and go with a 450.....then buy a set of motard wheels and a brake kit and have 2x's the fun.

FWIW, it takes me about 1hr to switch my YZ 450 from dirt to motard and tha includes replacing the front brake system.
