Default Damper comparison/opinions

OK before I shell out money for a damper, I know Ohlins is one of the best. Fishing around on Ebay and the prices can range from 200 to 600 lol
A HyperPro Damper can be bought for 290.
So my question is this....
What do you know about the HyperPro Damper? Is it any good? How is it compared to the almighty Ohlins?

Thanks

i think a lot of guys on the r1 board prefer the hyperpro over ohlins. i've heard good things about them over there.

I had that exact damper on the left. It worked well but it wasn't anything spectacular. Most of the settings were unusable, like the last 5 settings on the stiff side you couldn't even turn the handle bars in a reasonable manner. I wished they would have dropped those and went smaller increments on the other side of the spectrum.

Hyperpro.

It has a wider range of adjustability and speed-sensitive damping. Also much cheaper. Not much high-tech difference with dampers these days so its pretty much your personal preference. I personally like my Sotts.

I just went on there and now that I am looking for the Hyperpro, some guy is selling his Ohlins for 225 shipped, so if he has paypal, I'll take it.
Thanks for the heads up

If you get the Hyperpro, get the RSC not the CSC.

Why? I think the Ohlins from R1 forums fell through so I'm still in the market

Have you looked at the rotary dampers?

The RSC is Reactive. It still adjusts the same but it as the shaft speed increases, the damping increases. This lets it steer lighter under every condition until its NEEDED. Then it stiffens up.

The result is the same, rotary or linear. Just buy a good one that you like and hopefully its in a place that wont be damaged in a crash.

Yes I was gonna keep my scott's that I left on my old bike, but I also have to drill the frame for the mount, not a big deal to me but replacing the linear damper is just as easy and fine.

Thanks Bob...hopefully I won't crash but yea it would be in the same place as the stock, kinda out of the way. Thanks for your inputs it's been very helpful
