New bike! Well, new old bike... - Sportbike Addicts

Rev & Saxon - Thank you for showing concern! If I ever decided to give up my sport bike for a cruiser, I would hope somebody would drag me out back and smack me with around with a 2x4 until I remembered who I was. I didn't meant to make it sound like I was trading bikes. I'm just making an addition to the family. I would NEVER give up my GSXR.

As of right now, I've got my eye set on a 1982 Virago 750. 15k claimed original miles, Yamaha Factory upgrade chrome straightpipes, not-too-worn saddle bags, Corbin King & Queen seat, freshly gone-through and serviced(professionally) carbs, battery tender, original manuals & seat... I think that's all. Yeah. And a 750 V-twin with a shaft drive. I've got a few pics, and the thing looks immaculate. Especially for a 25 year old bike.

I've wanted a 2nd bike/cruiser for awhile now, so I decided to stop beating around the bush and just do it. My girl hates the back of the GSXR for obvious reasons, so I found this one, and it already has the Corbin seat on it so all the better. The price seems reasonable so tommorow night I'm going to check it out, and I'll probably bring a wad with me 'cause it's looking good from here!

naaaa. im 6'3 and i got a Harley Softail with a 1" drop. i dont look goofy on it.

But man...good luck with it...being older and stuff now...I don't foresee riding crazy anymore...But I do like the moto slightly better then the harley's...either way it's still on 2 wheels whether your going 110 or 65...good luck man..so far looks good....only way i give up my baby is if Someone gives me a custom chopper...

Revs. I just don't get those bikes. There's really not much you can do with them. You can't even cruise around looking good with a hot babe; most of them don't have a rear seat at all! And from what I've heard, you can't ride the for more than a few miles without something rattling off...

Don't get me wrong; it's still a bike...and if I was a millionaire I would surely own one. But until that day, I would rather spend 30k on 3 different bikes for track/street/dirt. And at 10k a bike that's a high estimate.

Now...What I've learned? Never give up your toys. Only add to your collection. I sold my dirtbikes last year and have been crying myself to sleep over it since. I love my GSXR to death and we will ride together until the sun sets on the human race. But now, I'll have one more toy to relax with when I just want to unwind without going for an intense, balls to the wall, total outlaw ride (which almost always seems to happen when I take the Gix out...). But I'm sure it'll only take getting passed by a sportbike once while I'm cruising before I turn around, hightail it home and fire up the thrashing bitch to do some serious riding.

naa these harleys are built so much better these days. you can actually ride them for hundreds of miles put it away that night and she will start up the next day for another few hundred miles. harleys breaking down or things rattling off is the OLD saying. i been around them my entire life to know so, i was just the only asshole to bring home a sportbike

i still got my bikes, all of them. 2 Gix 1000's and my track Gix600

I can't wait to start a collection. Obviously, short of wrecking a bike, I don't know of another reason why I'm going to get rid of anything I buy. Maybe a few I don't like over the years, but my first bike is staying with me forever. I love this thing too much.

I would like to get a few different bikes, a cruiser being one of them. I've ridden a couple and they are just a whole different brand of fun.

my old man had a 82? 920 midnight edition, he loved it. Just beware of the starters in them, I've heard that they do have problems with them. Anyway at least it is two wheels, maybe you can bring that on one of our group rides

I think Dad's was an 82. With the starter, they sell shim kits for them, so even their biggest drawback can be fixed. They are comfy enough that when I was 16, I went for a weekender with the old man and his friends and fell asleep on the back of it for 2 1/2hrs. I missed almost the whole state of Conn.

And Saxon, no comments about me falling asleep either!
