Default REVISED RIDE 8/26 - Hawk's Nest & Chicks on Bikes

OK. New thread as the other one had kind of a gay ring to it. Something about an "all-male ride" that just doesn't sound right. I mean, mostly every ride we go on is all guys but jeez, that just sounds gay. So how bout "We're going to go for a ride for a few hours then meet up with some chicks that are doing the "all-female-only" bike ride."? That sounds much better and even sounds like you might be able to meet a cute chick that rides a motorcycle. But if nothing else, it will be a good ride.

Check out the details below. -Eric

Meet up will be at the Dunkin' Donuts on Rt 23 North in Pompton Plains NJ. This is next to the Kawasaki Yamaha Sport Center and immediately after the Pompton Honda Suzuki Dealership. The address is: Dunkin' Donuts at 560 ROUTE 23, PEQUANNOCK, NJ 07440, USA 973-248-3380

Meet time will be 9:30 am. We will be out of there by 10:00am.

We will head north and hit a few roads on the way up towards port jervis.

We'll go up 23 to union valley road then we'll take clinton road back to rt 23. Then we'll head north a bit further to canistear road. We'll take that into highland lakes/vernon where it ends at rt 94. Then we'll take 94 back over to rt 23 where we'll head up to Hi-Point State Park. After hangning out up there for a few we'll head back through hi-point and make a right onto Deckertown Turnpike and take this through another part of Hi-point State Park/Stokes Forest. This goes up and over the mountains and will end up at Rt 206 on the other side. Then from there we'll go to the Junction and meet up with the girls that went on their ride. It is our goal to be at the Junction at 3PM.

I will adjust as time allows and maybe cut one of the roads out if need be. But basically, we are going off 23 then looping back to it twice. This should make for a much more fun ride than just a straight drone up rt 23 into Hi-Point.

This is what Tina, organizer of the all girls ride, had to say about the Junction since I have never been there, "the junction is a bar/resturant w/ game room. sometimes live bands, kareoke (sp?) it's a fun laid back place. the owner will give us drink specials but i don't want anyone to get drunk and drive, so take it easy when you get there. there is also a cheap hotel next door, so you can crash if you want to get piss ass drunk. lol."

The pace will be comfortable. Anyone can go as quick or as slow a you want and no one can really get separated from each other. Going up to Hi-Point is a pretty limited speed anyway since rt 23 has all the traffic lights and whatnot. When we group up in the morning I'll just need someone to volunteer to be the sweeper to know everyone is accounted for. But we won't be on a lot of separate roads. So it will be hard to lose everyone.

Wear gear if you got it. If not, I don't care. It's your skin. I don't want anyone riding a wheelie into my back though, so please keep your stuntin' in check. If you wheelie and shit, I don't care but the person next to you might. So just respect everyone elses safety and don't do stunts in places that will obviously bring the heat on us or run the risk of crashing someone else.

Let me know what you all think. -Eric

Why do you post the route?

So everyone knows where we're going. Do you think there are cops monitoring this board to see where we're going to be riding or something? Or do you think people are going to poach these roads? I want everyone to know the ride the are planning to go on. I wouldn't expect people to show up and have no clue where they are being lead. Thats makes me think about the lemmings getting marched off the cliff into the sea.

I noticed a few people on here concerned about posting routes because of cops. I would think they have better things to do.

cops don't have to look for speeding motorcyclists or drivers. they just sit there and they come to them.

two completely different animals. The 600RR is lighter, more flickable and overall easier to ride. But the RC is unique bike that just sounds so obnoxious its great. And the torque is a lot of fun. But it is more bike to muscle around for sure. But I like the way mine is set up. It's a super stiff bike that requires a purists attitude to really enjoy.

I have been thinking about this ride... I havent ridden in almost a week so I am going to try and make this one if I can drag somebody else up with me... I'll even volunteer to sweep, I prefer to stay in the back anyway, I am slow.... I also have a chatterbox so if anybody up front has one I can relay whats going on...

Sounds good to me as well. Just see me in the morning.

I'll more than likely be on a BMW K1200S instead of my RC. I was looking forward to riding the RC but it's all apart on the work bench. I hate troubleshooting electrical issues.I thought I had it fixed yesterday but it turned out to be something else. The bmw is sick fast though and it has adjustable push-button preload controls so I can stiffen it up in sport mode or put it on comfy for bumpy roads at a slower pace. It's kinda like riding a luxury version of a hayabusa.

What do you need to drag anyone up there with you for? Since you're coming from the Monmouth area just load your bike up in your truck or trailer and drive up here. We'll be meeting in a big lot and you can just leave your truck there. This is of course assuming you have a truck or trailer....
