Default Remembering A Few Things...

Remember to live more, and that you could always be better. Life is too short not to take the time to enjoy it.

A friend of mine, only 24, recently died. He was diagnosed with cancer shortly after his 23rd birthday, and was to turn 25 this June. Everything was going great until he got pneumonia last week, which caused complications. However, always in the greatest of spirits, he wanted everyone to know what he asked of them.

Keep on living.

After he was diagnosed, he took what money he had from disability and savings, and began going on trips all over the US. He went to California, Florida, etc, and definitely lived life to the fullest. As he asked us to, we went to the bar after his wake, and partied late into the night remembering and laughing. We also had a party at a catering hall after the funeral, which he asked us to do as well.

This post isn't about loss, not at all. The only thing I can't get out of my mind about him, and its what I'll always remember, is how incredibly happy he was. He was always thrilled to see people, to go out, to talk, whatever, and enjoyed every bit of his life. The only things he ever asked of us were the first few sentences I typed above, and I feel its important that I share his thoughts with everyone.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it.

I think his sentiments I put above are a testament to the kind of guy he was, enjoying everything right to the end. There wasn't much crying during the whole thing, it wasn't what he wanted. As this new season is here, all of us know about enjoying life and enjoying the ride. Sometimes we get caught up in some of the ridiculous crap life throws at us, and we forget about whats really important, so I think we can all use the occasional reminder.

Great attitude he had and I admire him a lot for that. I wish I could be a lot more like that at times.

As untraditional as it may be and as hard as it may be for the survivors, I like idea of celebrating a persons life after death rather than mourning it. From the day we are born everybody knows the day will come when we pass, there is no avoiding it. When, where, and how it happens is anybody guess. While it may be sad that somebody has left your life, if they meant that much to you, you should feel blessed to have them in your life to begin with. (you all in general, not you specifically, joe)...

Thanks... I'm surprisingly ok though. Probably because of the way he was, right up to the end.

Only thing I need now is to deal with Rahway and the damn DMV... stupid online ticket processing... DON'T DO IT PEOPLE!

I also get a break next week, I'm being sent to DC for work. Not to mention I did get to spend some time with damn good friends I haven't seen in years, and that was one of his last gifts to everyone. Good times are whats important, and as soda said, remember their life
