it was great to see you guys again and meet some new riders as well. thanks for the track pics hookup! great pics!
this track was awesome. it my first time there and loved it from the start. dsh (dave) and i arrived early evening on friday where we met up with coach lee. he walked the track with us which was so helpful getting on the track on saturday. the lines he showed us worked great! first couple sessions, i was running about 1:22's. by early afternoon, i started to average 1:17's. i was pretty surprised to see the times drop since it didn't feel like i was going faster. my main focus during the day was trying to be smooth in turns 1-4, and carrying more speed into turn 1. late breaking off the front straight and diving into turn 1 - the blind, downhill, right hander - was awesome! it's probably my favorite turn. i loved turns 1-4..it's a fun series of turns. i saw a couple ppl lowside at turn 10, which made me pussy out for that turn most of the morning. the weather was pretty brutal, but thank god for AC!
on sunday, there were lots of clouds and threats of showers, but we got 2 full sessions in before it started to wet the track. i skipped the first session because my stupid rearset footpegs (both sides!) were coming loose! and since it was starting to rain, i decided to skip the first session and take my time with the rearsets. thanks for the tools joe! on the second white group session, i ran a 1:14 when i had a lap with no traffic. i was surprised again since i didn't think i was going much faster than the day before. then the second session, i ran several laps with 1:14's. i was happy to maintain steady laptimes on my own.
during this session, dsh lowsided on turn 7. he was carrrying a lot of speed and in mid turn, he tried to tighten his line a bit more. he's ok though, not a scratch on him. the bike has some minor front end damage when it flipped after hitting the grass. unfortunately, no pics of the crash. the right side has the typical low side damage. by then it was starting to rain lightly so we decided to have lunch. later, he bought a new brake lever and clipon to see if he could get back on the track, but it just kept on raining so we decided to call it a day and head back home early. he had to work monday too - sucks!
we're looking at calabogie next! i need to score some free gas from sunoco or something! gas prices are a killer!

Well, my 1st time at Beaverun was a good one. The track is fun and fast. 2nd session of the 1st day i noticed that i ran a 1:05:2 while in pit out on a red flag so being the dumbass i am i decide to push it when we went back out....and almost launched myself in T6. The back came around and full lock right, full lock left, face breaks the windshield, peg in the calf and somehow i save it and ride off into the grass. Needless to say i slowed down a bit after that. lol But on sunday in the morning i had a good session and ran a 1:04:7 with a bunch of low 1:05's which I thought was ok for my 1st time there. Then the rain came but i still had fun riding with jimmy. Well, not really, i could only see him for like 2 laps. lol I did however run a 1:20 in the wet on DOT's. Considering I'm not a mudder I was proud of that.
Big props to Cakes who rode real well and I think earned his spot in Blue. And to Jimmy for towing me around the whole weekend. Good to see everyone!

Either that or SBA members like to crash there....ask me why I know about that. Despite throwing my bike down the track in the rain. I had a decent time. The dinners helped take the sting out of crashing again this season. Good putting more faces to names here again. Great bunch of folks. Looking forward to Summit on Labor Day weekend.
Thanks again for setting up a great photo package Joe!

Yep. I low sided coming through turn seven about 3 laps into the light rain. On the drive out, the rear wheel came out to the left and I couldn't get it to hook up. I spun out and wound up going about half way down the pavement and into the grass. Low damage crash, but the fuel tank gasket for the pump was leaking afterwards and ended my day.
Crash total was a right side frame slider, right foot peg/rear brake lever, right clip on and a windshield. What pissed me off most was the end of another expensive helmet. My Arai RX7RR Haga is toast from the slide. The MotoGP Roos held up just fine again. Kudos to Cakes for recommending that I see the post from Barnacle Bill for having the shoulders reinforced earlier this year. It definitely helped keep the suit together. I will be sending it off to have it repaired cosmetically during the winter.

Damn Ken - Sorry to hear that, but gear is replaceable,
and the bike is fixable, so I imagine I'll be chasing after
you again real soon...

I am headed to Summit for Labor Day Weekend. I think I may have the TZ issue figured out...friggin clutch cable. I have a new clutch on order and I should be back with the TZ250 in running order soon. Just been chipping away at the things that are in the way of getting in some track time with it. Definitely been a learning experience.
