Ron @ WCW is taking care of the rear tire this Saturday.

$116.00 for the tire, $35 for M&B. Never shopped around, just went to who I heard was reliable.

Unfortunately, it's all about the overhead. $20 dollars may seem fair to a customer but will it pay the bills?

SPRHK & Mack are the only ones I would consider for a low over head shop.

One wheel on the bike:
Pull bike in
remove rear wheel
dismount, replace valve stem & mount tire
clean wheel
balance wheel
reinstall wheel, adjust chain if needed
road test bike= 30 to a minimum 40 min. .5 to 6.6 tenths of an hour to do it correctly X 95 per hour = $47.50 to $62.70 (around 1.5 front & rear)

Overhead is a bitch; rent, electric, shop supplies, wages & water not to mention 5 years is the average life of tire changing equipment. After that they don't work so well (if you can keep them in good shape that long.)

So in actuality it should be around $85 to $95 for one wheel on the bike for a shop to make a profit. But we can't charge that or customers would not ever come to us. So we take a hit on the tire M&B in hopes to gain a larger customer base who may either utilizes us for other work later or spread the word to other people & they come in.

There is no money to be made in tire changing. It is a necessary service for customer relations that no shop will ever complain about. Especially if the customer buys the tire from them.

I just reread this. Your on the bike one should be perfect for a low overhead shop. I would still bump up the loose wheel one unless they bought the tires from you.

WELL, you should...

Seriously though, why not order it through him? Are the prices that off with shipping? He'd probably match your price.
