What's the harddest thing about riding?

I saw this on another board, so I figured i'd post here and ask.

What's the hardest thing about riding (street/track/whatever)?

The hardest thing for me is:

control road rage for moron drivers, or riders.
not breaking 500 laws every time i ride :squid:

for me, not crashing

Brian78 09-05-2008 02:13 PM

for me, its knowing i have to share the road with sonny

I still have a few things that haunt me when I'm really trying to ride fast.
1. I tend to grip the bars too tight and have to keep telling myself to loosen up...
2. I dont look ahead far enough.

Two basic things that I still work on everytime I ride.

Braking from high speed and corner entry speed. I keep telling myself I can brake a lil bit later or I can take this corner a lil bit faster.

Hitting the same mark and same line lap after lap.

On the street.. I would have to say the other people that "didn't see me"

On the track.... Hmm.. I keep being told that my form is spot on.. I also hear that you have to do all the other things (form, hitting the apex, etc..) "you have to go slow to be fast... and the speed will come..

When the hell is the speed going to come then??

I dont look far enough ahead through turns either.

I crash almost every time I ride LOL so I guess the hardest thing for me is trying to not ride over my head. I am talking about riding in the woods so it is a little different but it still hurts.

when u twist the throttle

i thought the jeep hood was the hardest thing but then i hit the pavement, THAT was pretty hard.

i can't seem to tie it all together yet on the track so i'm not confident enough, so i suffer with that 4-letter word...FEAR

If anything, the split second of doubt that the tire won't stick when I need it to, that give me pause.

+1...no matter how good they felt I still had a tough time trusting their grip, and afterwards it seemed I always underestimated their grip.

But never overestimate the grip of a takeoff tire, either... or you'll end up ass-over-teakettle just like I did.

For me...

Track: Consistency. Hitting my marks time and time again. And learning that if I'm not on the brakes, I need to be on the throttle. And getting my head down more.

Street: Not breaking the speed limit. :D
