A "real" range hood is part of the renovation plan, I just stumbled on a good deal so I grabbed it.

Right now there is no range hood, there used to be an old microwave/vent combo unit.

No it's an interior wall. The existing hood vent goes nowhere that I have seen. It may vent into the attic above the garage I'm not sure.
