Track (Monthly Expenses)

Good suggestions. I also bring a cooler with food packed for lunch and breakfast (in addition to plenty of snacks, water, gatoraid), so I only have to eat dinner out. Food at the track is sometimes pretty expensive for what you get.

Here is my approximate expense breakdown:

Pocono:
track day: 170
gas, tolls: ~60
food/drinks/snacks: 30-40
so its about 250 - 300 for a pocono track day, leave home early AM and come back around 9pm.

Summit point:
Track day: 170
gas, tolls: 120
hotel: 60-80
food: 50
so about 400 - 450

im not counting tires, so far my tires lasted 6 track days with some meat left for 2 more days. but its safe to add $50 to each trackday cost, for tire expense.

sharing travel expenses with others is the best, saves a whole lot of money that you can then spend on more track days!
I have no problems sharing a bed with another dude (must have seperate covers or it can be considered ) or sleeping on a hotel room floor in order to save some cash.

I spend so much money on track days last seasson that its not even funny.... I just bought a small trailer to tow my bike to the track next seasson, and my dirt bike now. My Ram gets 12mpg, my focus(stick) 25+mpg.

Levi get a 4cyl small truck like Tacoma or Frontier- youy will get good gas milage and its small enough to park on busy Brooklyn streets....

I still think its cheaper to have one truck then have a car and a truck ... if you add on the additional cost for insurance and storage, maintenance ect, the gas mileage must be a HUGE difference to cover it. I have a 2005 F-150 5.4 V-8 and I get about 15 mpg loaded to the max with 2 bikes on the highway. Just keep it slow in the right lane and its fine.

Also forgot, track expenses dont stop with transportation and track fee's ... on top of tires, you will most likely add in some mods, even if you dont think you will, you probably will once you get hooked! I try to save some cash and use that for incidentals so it doesnt dent my CC's ... gatorade, water, snacks, lunch, gas for bikes ect.

On the maintenance side don't forget about brake pads, oil changes, ect. I go through grips pretty quickly for some reason also. Just things to consider ... and the more hooked you get, the more you buy ... suspension, stands, paddock area with EZ Up, coolers, towels, fans ... it never ever ends!!

Definitely.
I went from being able to get to the track with my bike, leathers, helmet and a chair with lunch to taking almost my whole garage with me. It gets to be that way the more time you go.
If you're a gadget junkie like me, then its defintiely worse.

Levi.. Get a little truck I am thinking the same thing. I have been lucky to get a boost / tag along trailer ride 7 times this past year. When its time to get another car I am looking at a pickup. Eventually if sue wants to get in as well I am looking at a small trailer as well to tow 2 bikes. As stated above, I also looked at each track day weekend as a mini-vacation. Its definately better to split the costs with other people as well. Not to mention you aquire some pretty interesting memories.. LOL

hey jim, I can get 2 bikes in the bed of my tacoma no problem, so if you get something like that you can put both your's and sue's in there. just make sure to get the extended cab to fit your stuff inside
