Default Biker loses wild chase on German motorway

BERLIN (Reuters) - A British man on a motorcycle hit speeds of up to 145 miles per hour trying to flee German police on a highway before being stopped in a rush hour traffic jam near Frankfurt, police said Thursday.

Police in the western town of Darmstadt said the 42-year-old Briton had evaded officers chasing him by weaving between other cars and hitting speeds well over the limit.

"But he could not shake the officers in pursuit," a police spokesman said. Even though there are no speed limits on parts of German motorways, many sections do have strict limits.

The man was arrested after he got caught in a traffic jam near Frankfurt. Police said he was carrying documents suggesting he was taking part in an illegal race across Europe.

He was later released on a 500-euro bond but his motorcycle was confiscated.

SUCKA!! Does anyone know what this "illegal race across Europe" is? I'm curious to read more about it.

at least there were no accidents...for the rider or for other cars on the road...could have been tragic.. and at least he showed enough "sense" to slow down in the traffic jam instead of like, trying to ride down the shoulder or something at 145mph lol.

Sounds more like he got caught before being able to weave through and get away again. Probably blocked by motorists.

that is what i am thinking too. i have the tekademics dvd set and it is nuts! everything from high dollar supercars to bikes.....people dont even care about their cars. i think one of the ferarri 360's had hit so much bugs and rock chips at speed that it had taken all the paint off the nose of the bare to the sheetmetal
