dealer price??? I'd say its around 1 - 2 hours of actual labor. What they will charge might be different tho. They may charge from the time the bike gets on the lift till it gets off the lift. They have to drain the brake fluid, take off the old lines, put on the new lines, change the pads, and then bleed the system again.

This is what i would do. Drain the fluid myself, replace the lines, replace the pads. Bring the bike in n let them finish bleeding the brakes. I tried to do it myself, but couldn't get it right, so i just payed about $35 for them to bleed it. It might take longer if it wasn't bled at all, so you might wanna bleed it a lil bit yourself.

Around $90 + brake fluid. That's if it takes 2 hrs. Using Motul 5.1 would be approx. $6, using Motul RB600 would definately be more. I don't recall atual price on it.

Buy a 3/8 torque wrench for $25. Buy a vacuum bleeder with cup, $30. Do it yourself.

I agree with Bob. It's easier than most people think.

Default Labor rate part 2

Ok.. here is the whole story. I brought my RC51 to have some work done on the forks (racetech gold valves, 5wt oil, ohlins springs) to shop X. A few hours later one of the techs calls me and says that they can't do the job. They were insisting that the forks were already modified.. that they were not the stock forks. I know that they are stock since I bought the RC brand new. So the forks were sent out to Dan Kyle. While the bike was in their shop I had requested them to also install stainless steel brake lines and EBC brake pads that I provided. The labor that they are asking for is $260... $80 of which is the 2 day UPS charge so that I could make it to my trackday - (the bike was in the shop for about 3 weeks- they knew about the trackday but sent the forks UPS GROUND from NJ to CA). What do you guys think of the $260 bill? Sorry for the long post. Mike

I would ask them for a brake in the price bcause of them being asses with the shipping. On pay the $260 and use of the guys asses for a front wheel chock.

Damn, yeah, I guess it could take them 3 hours at $80/hr to do the brake lines and pads. Did they tell you up front how much it would be? If you knew their labor rate up front there's probably not much you can do. Did you want them to ship the forks 2 day? Sounds like you did so you could make your trackday, otherwise, yeah, ground to Kyle is a week each way. He turns the forks around in a day or two, but the shipping takes awhile.
On the bright side, Dan will do a really good job with your forks, much better than shitty Racetech gold valves.

They owe you money on the shipping since they didint send the forks 2nd day.
Other then that it looks like they charged you 2 hrs labor at $90/hr. Thats a common rate. Replacing brake lines, replacing brake pads, removing and shipping forks could take anyone 2 hrs.

Contest the shipping charges, get what you can out of them, pay the bill and get your bike back.
