Well the best place to start would be right here on SBA in the track section. They have a good post going right here Track Day 101

The next step would be to check out www.teampromotion.com You'll notice that about 75% of the track guys here ride with TPM.

Then if you need more help just post up a question.

Things you NEED to get on the track:
a bike
a roll of tape (I preffer blue painter's tape because it doesn't leave residue)
a helmet
some cash

that's it, all gear could be rented if you don't have it. hell, now that I think about it you can even rent a bike!

if you want to use your own gear, textile is OK as long as the pants and jacket zip together, gloves need to be over the wrist, and boots over the ankle

as nick said check out teampromotion. you would need to take the ART Basic class, if it's your first time out there. Just pick a convenient time at a convenient track and there you go.

1st, you should check your check book and figure out if you can afford 5 more events because you'll be ADDICTED after your 1st day.

Well just to add to what everyone was saying, there are a couple of us that are gonna be track newbies this year. I think im gonna do the art basic class on 4/15/06 at Pocono east. So if you want to head up one day just add your name to the TPM list and look for the short guy on a f4i like me in my sig.
