when a phone is locked??

im trying to buy a blackberry that someone has but they say is locked?? can it be unlocked? or are they locked cause they are stolen?

i means you need a code to unlock it. it clould be stolen or he could have find it. but with out the code you can't unlock it so you can't use it

Locked means it is locked to only work with the carrier that it is set on. So if its a Cingular Blackberry and locked, it'll only work with a Cingular SIM card. Unlocked will allow you to put another GSM carrier's SIM in it and be able to use it...might not be able to use all the features though.
