Adobe Illustrator CS question?

I can't seem to figure out why this is happening. Whenever I try to put a drop shadow on something, it will let me do everything but blur the shadow. The blur box is shaded gray and cannot be used. Anyone know why this might be? Any suggestion?

What are you trying to put a shadow on? Text, graphic, or imported image?

You could always put the blur on after you render that layer.
