Rossi likes NASCAR!
I'm sitting here watching the MotoGp Pre-Race show, and they're doing an interview with Rossi. He says he likes NASCAR. "they race on not real tracks. It is an oval"
"When I'm done with bikes, I like to race cars. Why not in America?"
Sheesh. I used to like the guy. Go fast. turn left. ZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

NASCAR has the best drivers/racing in the world. Thats why everyone wants to make the switch. Though comparing Moto GP to NASCAR is like comparing apples to oranges, where do you begin.

Everytime I turn around, NASCAR is doing something dumb. It is the only series in the world that sucumbs to profit 100%. What other racing series:
1.makes rules to ensure total equality among manufacturers
2.Changes rules every week to attempt to ensure equality
3. Has a "Lucky Dog" rule that lets people back on the lead lap
4. Mandates what shocks and springs to run at certain tracks
5. Has a "no Shifting" rule at Pocono
6. Has a playoff style format at the end of the season, where points are re-distributed in increments to try to make racing more exciting.
7. Has a post race debacle/fight every other week involving jockey sized drivers.
8.Boasts about technology from the racecars go into your streetcar? In bikes the trickle down effect is almost immediate. There is really nothing from NASCAR that made it into any car from the 70's on.
9. The list continues........

Yea, and just how well does the IRL and Cart Series do. Nascar is in place to do one thing... Make Money. Its a business. If you dont like it, buy tickets to the next IRL race and watch Danica Patrick get beat repeatedly, but man, you can sure feel nice at the end of the day becuase the rules are "fair" and everyone broke even on the weekend.
Nascar is hugely successful, dont fault them for that becuase it dosent get your rocks off.
edit: For the record, I hate nascar.

I don't fault NASCAR for being successful, I just think the past couple of years, the complexion of the racing has changed. Even though it has been decades since there was factory backing in NASCAR, it was a brand focused sport. Now all the cars are the similiar. People should be talking Chassis-engine-body rather than Chevy, Ford, or Dodge. It is possible nowadays to have a Laughlin chassis, Hutter power, and a DEI body if you can afford it, but even with all the combinations, the cars are still so similar. I love the factories battling it out in Superbikes and MotoGP. Thats real racing!

Marker01 - I really hope that was a joke.
Unfortunately, NASCRAP is very successful and makes TONS of money. Too bad people don't know the difference between good racing and bumper cars at 200+mph.
