Or one of these. We usually take around 10,000 gallons when we fill up and we're one of the smaller boats. Burns about 100 gallons an hour under a full load. Cha Ching

You're right, we shouldn't be complaining.

Want lower gasoline prices??? ..... make the Government stop collecting the T A X E S (about 40% of the cost approx.)
Cost in Canada is higher due to taxes as well.
And get the bunny huggers to allow more refineries to be built. The lack of supply is because we cant refine it fast enough.

Can you get me a source for that 40% figure. A quick google search says taxes are 16% and in a country comparison graph from 2007 seems to concur. The latest gas hikes are due to refinery problems, but overall I don't think it's a tax issue (at least not with data that I could quickly find).

Edit: Found this article that proposes lowering gas taxes and replacing them with toll money, which would cause at least 5 posts from CBRBob if that happens. http://www.autobloggreen.com/2008/04...es-in-favor-o/

If (and I really mean when) it hits $3.75, I'm going see if I can work out a "work from home 2 days, office 3 days" type thing with my company. I'm in software so there isn't a huge need for me to physically be in the office and I sometimes work from home when I'm not feeling well. Anyone else planning on trying this or have their company mention something like it? At my last job, if it was going to be hot, most of us worked from home. We had some A/C issues and it proved more efficient that way, less power strain at the office and the A/C worked better. Productivity didn't seem to suffer at all.
Also, anyone verify that 40% tax figure that FDNYDANO18 brought up?

I was out the other morning and saw gas at $2.99 and thought, "That's not bad (it sure sucks when you think $3 a gallon isn't bad ) I should fill up. I didn't. 2 hours later it was $3.06. Now $3.09.
Side bar....
We took a load of fuel to Gleenwood Long Island the other day. Only 5500 barrels, which really is just a waste of time for my boat. Anything less than 20,000 barrels (840,000 gal. for those bad at math) is considered less than a full load for that terminal. I mentioned it in passing to the dispatcher and he replied, "Yeah, pretty much, but hey, they're paying us $30,000 to do it." Works for me, hell, let's do it twice then.
