Not enough slack in the chain along with a soft rear suspension could cause this pre-mature wear.
Aluminum sprockets usually only last a season or two...race season that is.

The chain tension was in pretty good shape. Not too loose, not too tight. But the rear was definitely soft when we adjusted it Tuesday morning.
