rattle can paint job
trackday plastics arrived, now to paint - everything i've read so far says "prepping the surface it most important".
ok, of course i didn't pay attention & botched my 1st first attempt. i used up an entire spray can on the un-prepped surface. sprayed the underside & partial topside. yikes! it looked horrible, bumps, pores, scratches, even a bug landed on the wet paint.
while the paint was drying i went out & got some fine sandpaper. i used the wet sandpaper & made the surface nice & smooth. i'm working on the smallest piece first (front fender) to test out my procedures. i'm going to paint it indoors to avoid the bugs, i got it on some newspapers, ready for the topcoat...

I like your choice of drop cloth
I read a great idea not to long ago, guy made a paint booth out of an ez-up and a tarp for the sides. Pretty genius.

i'll use the box the bodywork came in as a DIY paint booth
(the bucket hanging is just to give an idea on how i'll have the bodywork situated)
