Default TL1000R inquiries...

I am taking a look into something being offered my way. Basically, there is a 2000 TL1000R, some modifications, owned by a 50 year old gentleman, custom paint, whatever. He is looking for a 600 for his son as he doesn't want his son riding the TL out of the gate. We are talking about swapping my bike (2000 Honda CBR 600 F4) for his bike (the 2000 Suzuki TL1000R).

I understand the differences between I4 and V-twin, I also understand the difference between 600 and 1000. I'm not shy about getting on it or anything else at this point.

What I AM shy about is whether or not this bike is worth it. I have heard mixed reviews about these bikes from those who LOVE them to those who HATE them. I see a lot of magazines gave them lower marks versus the RC-51 and Duc's of the day, which I really don't care about.

What I want to know is; why should/n't do this trade. Anything to look out for in the TL1000R's? Anything that is known to break easily and spoil a season of riding? etc etc. Pros and cons if you have any to offer.
