FYI, belts and shoe laces are removed to prevent suicide attempts while in custody. How about if you're a 29" waist stop wearing 42" pants.......that shit is getting old.

I know, but they are given back to you after you leave the holding cell at the police station. Same thing in Prison. I was a C.O at Rahway for 10 years before making the jump to Finance in NYC.

During the "perp walk" the perp is still in police custody and not allowed access to the belts and laces. Leaving the holding cell in police custody is still custody. If the perp leaves the stationhouse on his own after being issued a Desk Appearance Ticket for a lesser offense, then he's given back the belt and laces, not for the ride to the booking facility and transfer to corrections personnel. Belts, laces and house keys are kept in an envelope and handed over to the Corrections officer taking further custody of the perp.
In this picture, the perps are still rear cuffed and being transported to the Bronx Central booking facility.

WOW....you took this joke way out of context.
Moral of the story kids, do the crime do the time (albeit with or without a belt).
