Thumbs up My first day as a MSF-RAT

My friend is currently in the Sussex class this weekend and she asked me to go with her, so today I bumped myself up to RAT status. For those of you that don't know, I'm basically assisting the coaches in setting up the cones for each stage of the course and being an extra pair of eyes just to be sure everything is running smoothly.

Being I've taken the ERC I already had a general idea of what goes on, but it was a rewarding experience being on the other end even though I can't contribute a large amount of my time to the individual students until I become a certified coach.

Watching a rookie's development over the period of 3 days is awesome. First time on the bike and they can't even get the bike moving without stalling, then by the end of the first course day they're hitting tight figure eights and practicing emergency braking, something they never thought they could do.

We have a great class, everyone's performing the maneuvers very well with minimal errors and they always provide their full attention, I'm sure everyone will pass tomorrow.

Think I'll give coaching a shot as soon as I can throw a leg over, there's nothing better than doing what you love, giving something back to those eager to learn, and getting paid to do it.

Rich & Audrey, they were great & the students really enjoyed the class. Everyone passed, there was one perfect score on the written and two perfect scores on the riding exam...and someone actually complained on the survey that there were too many breaks between exercises.

I should be putting my name on the list for next year, Rich said I'm gonna love "boot camp".

Let me know what your schedule is, if I have the time I'll give ya a hand.

Ron,

I was there. I was teaching the class before. I saw someone on the right side of the range and asked my co-coach who you were. She said you were there accompaning a freind. You had a bandage around your left knee area right? I didn't ride cause I'm currently putting on braided lines and I wasn't finished yet. Small world.

Yup that was me, awaiting orders from the higher-ups. I rolled in there about 1:30 on test day and saw your students lounging at the tables. The weather was near perfect both days, and the wind made it very pleasant to stand out in the sun all day on Sunday.

I asked Audrey if I can get my hands on the MSF moto jersey she had on and she said those need to be purchased. Think I'll pick up a few if I get on the list for next year and have High Revs 17 put on the back so I'll be easy to spot.
