Short a cap some day when you are bored and find out..  Most of the caps come with a shunt to discharge the current... safely, even though it does take quite a while to completely drain them. Same holds true for some of my home stuff as well. Caps are a great cheat to cover power demands. One reason I still hang on to my Carver M1.5t home amp. Only 2 channel but but its nice to have that kind of dynamic headroom / capacity. One of the best amps I have ever owned.
