Welcome to the site, Joe. I have owned a 2004 RC for a few years now and I have spent thousands of dollars on modifications to my bike just to keep newer 600cc bikes in sight.
Sorry to break the news to you but the RC's day in the sun has passed. I only keep my bike for the pure pleasure of riding a twin. Don't expect to much from the RC. Highly modified with an expect rider aboard, you might actually get the RC to the front against 600's but those 600's will most likely not be as highly modified.
