They dropped the 749 because the 999 is going away thanks to the 1098 and it doesn't make sense to support two product lines (even though they have in the past - 998/999). I'm guessing there'll be a 848 in '08 or '09. The only 999/749 style bike selling as an '07 bike is worldwide is the 999s Team USA:
