Advice Please?

Was thinking of buying a new bike, and paying cash, but some of these mo mos dont have the title in hand! So, now i'm in a position to hand over cash so the guy can pay it off, then in 3 weeks, I get the title. He's even willing to give me the bike. Guy sounds straight up....BUT I HATE DOING IT THIS WAY!

On my first bike, the dude had the cash, he paid it off and I waited till he got the title to pick it up. I kind of want this bike, but still...cant ride it for 3 weeks after I get it. WTF!!!!

Any Advice.

I would steer clear of it. Avoid any potential hassle

What kinda bike? I would draft a letter and both of you sign it and have it noterized. Like a bill of sale

Yeah there are a gazillion bikes for sale don't rush and buy the wrong one.

If you have to have that bike, don't do the guy any favors dude. Get a notorized letter like Saxon suggested so there's no confusion about who owns the bike or forget it and get a different bike.

tell him to contect who his loan is with and they have paperwork that will let you switch everthing over into your name and you can send the bike the money and he will get a certifided paperthat say it payed for and he can give you the bike

If you do decide to go ahead and buy it make sure you do this. What kind of bike are you looking for?

Personally, I'd only buy a bike that has a title coming with it when cash is traded.

A friend of mine got screwed doing this. The guy avoided him for three months, but he finaly got the title. This was a "friend" of his. Be carefull and get something in writting from the guy to protect your ass.

UPDATE: Since we spoke this morning, he called and said he would borrow the cash from his buddy and pay it off, said he figured I would not be the only person asking to busting his balls about it. Asked that i'd give 1K down. Located in Mt Laurel.

Something still stinks. Don't give him anything till you look at it and see the title in his hand.

F-that. Who wants to buy a bike with a lien on it.

Rev 04-30-2007 01:54 PM

Pete..don't give him 1k..that's stupid..tell him no and you have the cash at hand and yoru a serious buyer...

njf4i 04-30-2007 03:46 PM

Pete just wait till the guy has a title in hand. Or you can do what was said above and contact the financial institute that has the title. Talk to them and find out how to get the paper work changed to your name.

Good luck.
