feeler, bike raffle

I while ago Cakes gave me the idea of doing a paid raffle for a bike, so I've been thinking about it. I'de of course still have to clear it with the powers that be, but wanted a general consensus of what you guys think before I brought it to them.
Let's say we raffled off a new 600cc supersport, $100 per entry and you could enter as many times as you would like. There would need to be a minimum number of entries.
Or maybe like a little 50cc dirtbike / pitbike for $50 per entry.
Winner would get the bike, including all taxes, title, and documentation fees satisfied. Registration and insurance on the street bike would be winner's responsibility.
So what do you guys think?

Would the raffle be endorsed by a dealership/sponsor or from a private party?

I'd be in for this. Which 600? Curious since I'm vertically challenged ;) Would winner have a choice between a few maybe?

I dont think their would be enough people to contribute for a 8k bike unless you get a used one. If anything i would do the 50cc dirtbike you can get those for like 1k so only 20 raffle tickets would need to be sold instead of 80.

Barbi 10-20-2006 08:49 AM

I'd do it.

smoothgixxer 10-20-2006 08:57 AM

I'd be interested.. I believe when you say the taxes will be taken care of you mean sales tax. When you win a price, it is also considered income if I am not mistaken, so you would be responsible for income tax for the item as well, which is actually a considerable amount.

A maximum/minimum number of tickets is pretty much a give, as well as the whole process being audited by an independent 3rd party...

Probably not for $100 a ticket. Maybe the $50 for a CRF 50 or something though.
