Questions on first trady day at Shenandoah
Ok, so i've searched quite a bit on the internet, and i can't seem to find anything i need. Hopefully you guys will be able to help me out!
I'm planning to do my first track day with tpm art 1 at shenandoah circuit this sat. Got a couple of questions. 1) should i park the truck and leave the truck there while i stay at a hotel? will there be enough space the morning of on sat? 2) i know that spectators are allowed on the paddock (pit area) as i've heard people handing them a rear stand. But do these people have to arrive the same time i do, or can they come later? those are the only ones i really wanna know cause my g/f is gonna come but i don't want her to be sitting in the stands when she can be at the pit. |
If you're trailering the bike(s) there, usually people will drop off the trailer at the track(basically claim a spot to pit) and drive off to hotel.
The whole time before lunch you'll be either on the track or in the classroom. Your girl can go wherever. |
thanks cakes. Just to make sure that i get this correct. I'll arrive at 7 am for inspection and then go back to my pit area. She can arrive at like say 10 and just walk over to me?
Also, i was reading that 10 gallons of fuel is needed. is this true? |
Yes, thats no problem. Just have her tell Donnie at the gate she's there for TPM.
You should show up with your bike full and another 5 gallon can of gas. |

you don't have to be there exactly by 7am for inspection, but you do want to have it done before the riders meeting. You'll hear all this on the TPM Loud speaker. Tech inspection is now open, 15 minutes before riders meeting, 10 minutes before riders meeting, 5 minutes till riders meeting ETC ETC Your girlfriend can arrive at the track anytime she likes, 7am (or even as soon as the gates open, if they are closed the night before) all the way to the end of the day that don't matter. The amount of gas, ehhh, depending on the track, how the day is ran, but I usually fill up 2 jugs, and whatever if left at the end of the day, i dump in my truck. Just be cool, dont panic and rush to get stuff done. if you miss tech before the riders meeting, you can always tech after the riders meeting. but being its ART, usually after the riders meeting, they usually have the ART class stay there at the end of the meeting. but you got a good amount of time to get tech done if you start at 7am.. just dont rush.. |
thanks everyone! I have 5 gallons of gas right now. I was contemplating on getting more. But i guess i can always buy gas there if i need. I know that i'm gonna need a lot of things there in which i prob won't have/bring. I just hope that i wo'nt get bit by the bug and start doing trackdays every month.

Your first track day you prob won't go through a full tank of fuel.

::sigh:: this was why i pushed off doing track for 5 years. LOL. I quickly turned away when i saw the monthly track expenses someone posted on here years ago. I moved 2 years ago to va, and i really haven't been on here since. Kinda miss the bike family.

Get there by 7. Unload and set up your pit. When you take your bike through tech, bring your helmet. ask the coaches where the ART class will be held and park your bike there. When you hear its time for the riders meeting, buit up, bring your gloves and helmet with you as you will go to the classroom right after. From there you will head out to the track. 2 things, you will NOT be going fast most of the day. HAVE FUN. Oh yea, Shenny sux, ask Omie ;) |

Yea I remember making that same statement, now I'm selling crap on ebay to get my track fix. Good luck and listen to the coaches they'll guide you along and show what you need to know. |

thanks everyone for the heads up and advices. I haven't felt like this in a while. kinda feels like the 1st day of school. I hope i don't get bored on the track cause i'm not going that fast. I mean, how fast is "not fast". is it going to be like newb speed? I'm no expert, but i might have to mentally prepare myself now if i'm gonna be riding like i'm stuck behind a granny driving in the back roads where i spent the last 2 hours on the highway just to hit this road. i'm guessing there will be someone leading us? Will they put the faster guys in the front and the slower ones in the back like in a spirited group ride? reason why i ask is cause i read from one other boards that there will be someone whose had their bike for like 2 months and is doing track. I don't think i really want to be stuck behind them, no offense to them tho.
