Fun w/Safety Wire

4 Attachment(s)
Finally got around to swapping out the coolant...while waiting for the fluid temp to cool, decided to go ahead and safety wire some stuff. Tip for anyone looking to safety wire anything...the right drill bits and a automatic center punch make all the difference, Cobolt bits are awesome! Still have to finish up the oil fill and rear axle bolt.

Cool what is this center punch you speak of and where did you buy the bits?

Its a center punch thats like spring loaded, you push in, when it reaches a certain spot it automatically sets a punch w/o having to use a hammer. Bits I got at sears.

Nice job Joe. Do you know why safety wiring became optional this season? I thought it was a minimal requirement for Blue group to begin with.

Huh? It spins counter clock to come off.

The bolt head, you are pulling it the wrong way, not the cap.

thats not fun with safety wire....FUN with safety wire is having to use the pliers to remove the safety wire from your finger. lol Doh!

Ew Chris lol.

Finished up the rest...of course I had to fix the wire job at the over flow bolt lol. Also not sure if I like the way the rear axle clip is sitting...might have to rotate the axle a bit.

Is there any website or something that shows you how to do it or what are good things to safety wire... I guess I might as well do it to my new bike if I ever have some spare time.

Cakes206 05-12-2008 10:26 PM

Yo Jake, if ya need a hand, let me know.
