CBR1000rr pricing

Could you guys clue me in on any potential reasons the CBR1000rr seems to be priced lower than it's 600cc counterpart for 2008?

I'm noticing a brand new 2008 cbr1000rr priced at around 7k.

With an MSRP of 11.5k, is there any reason they're being priced that much lower?

I've been out of the bike scene for a while, did I miss something?

nobody wants them, seriously. with at low as I have seen them being offered there must be a ton of leftovers, and they dont want them sitting around until 2011.

Is it a mechanical thing? are they breaking down all over the place or something? I rather like the way they look. I don't get it.

Update:
I found there were some recalls for the 2008 cbr1000rr
one to do with the clutch and this other.

nope, just way too many leftover

similar to how Mitsubishi didn't bring the 09 Evo X to the US because of the number of 08 leftovers

Hadn't heard about that one, only the oil burning issue which supposedly only effects about 10% of them.

Anyway, from what it looks like the 2008-2010 1000rr are pretty much identical aside from graphics, so I imagine they want to get rid of that old stock. I mean, aside from the aforementioned issue I have not heard a single bad thing about the bike. Apparently it feel tiny and lightweight (relatively speaking), has a monster midrange and very easy to go fast on.
